Microchipping involves the implantation of a chip under the skin between the shoulder blades of our pets to permanently identify them. This is a quick and simple procedure when performed by our qualified staff and involves no more discomfort than any other injection. The chip itself is the size of a long grain of rice and contains a unique 15-digit number, which is picked up using a scanner. The contact details of the owners and the chip number are registered on a national database, allowing pets to be reunited with their owners as speedily as possible. It is vital that this data is kept up to date, as this is the only means of contacting the registered keeper. Your contact details can be changed, usually for a small fee, either online or by telephone directly with the database.

From 6th April 2016, it is compulsory for all dogs in England over the age of 8 weeks to be microchipped.
